With the support of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Overdose Data to Action Grant through the Southern Nevada Health District, EMPOWERED is launching a new podcast, “EMPOWERED Voices: Recovery to Resiliency.”

Co-hosed by Farzad Kamyar, MD, a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in addiction medicine, and Amani Wilson, EMPOWERED’s program coordinator, the podcast series brings to light the challenges and triumphs of families navigating substance use during and after pregnancy.

“Through compelling stories, expert insights, and actionable guidance, this series aims to empower listeners with understanding, compassion, and tools for support,” said Kamyar. “From personal struggles to collective resilience, each episode is designed to foster empathy, break down stigmas, and promote healing within families and communities.”

The trailer/introductory episode is now available with full episodes premiering June 17. “EMPOWERED Voices: Recovery to Resiliency” can be found on Apple, Spotify, Amazon Music, iHeart and other podcast platforms. For information, visit .

The EMPOWERED program at Roseman University College of Medicine was established in Las Vegas in 2018 and provides resources and support to pregnant and postpartum mothers in recovery from substance use disorders, primary opioids and stimulants. EMPOWERED provides connections to medical treatment, individual and group therapy, peer support, access to community resources, housing, education, and basic living supplies. The program was recently expanded to Reno, Carson City and Churchill and Lyon counties in Northern Nevada thanks to a federal grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
