Black Student Union
The mission of the Black Student Union is to provide a safe place for any and all Roseman students, especially minorities and students of color. Our goal is to uplift our minority population through leadership opportunities, networking events and partnerships.

Drug Abuse Awareness Team (DAAT)
Drug Abuse Awareness Team (DAAT) is a student organization dedicated to educating the youth about the abuse/misuse of prescription and nonprescription drugs and the dangers of drug addiction. DAAT’s present commitments are to work in cooperation with the various schools to deliver our message.

Latter-day Saints Student Association (LDSSA)
The Latter-day Saints Student Association (LDSSA) is a University-wide club that has as its purpose to provide an opportunity for LDS students at Roseman to meet together. The Association meets periodically during the academic year. LDSSA clubs are found on many University and College Campuses in the United States and especially in the west. The meetings, while geared to the interests of LDS students, are open to all Roseman students.

Middle Eastern Students Association of Nevada (MESANV)
The goal of MESANV is to promote the empowerment of minorities and encourage understanding of Middle Eastern cultures. We strive in providing all members of society a voice. MESANV seeks to collaborate with Middle Eastern Communities. Throughout Nevada to raise awareness in health care and improve the care of minority patients.

Movimiento Estudiantil (M.E.R.)
Movimiento Estudiantil Roseman is committed to promoting awareness and education on the essential role of Spanish-speaking health professionals within the Latino community. We advocate the practice of Spanish-speaking skills in multiple settings including school, hospital and community sites through language workshops and practice sessions led by M.E.R.’s existing active members, fellow alumni or interested community volunteers. M.E.R. promotes student leadership opportunities that will complement the goals and interests of the organization and supports individual and collective projects or philanthropic endeavors regarding community health issues. The main goal is to focus on all minority and underserved communities in need of outreach and advocacy for healthcare related issues and develop a plan of actions for positive contributions on behalf of M.E.R.

Pan-Asians Towards Healthcare (PATH)
PATH is committed to promoting the representation of Pan-Asians and underrepresented groups in the healthcare field, increasing cultural sensitivity and cultural competence amongst healthcare professionals, and providing information and educate about issues within the Pan-Asians community regarding health, cultural, social, and economic status which affect community healthcare.

RU Jewish Club
The mission of the Roseman Jewish Club is to inspire and uplift Jewish students from all backgrounds to share, learn, and partake of all that our beautiful heritage has to offer. Through classes, outings, shabbas, and holiday dinners all provided by Chabod’s non-judgmental environment and acceptance of all’. The club is open to people of all backgrounds who are interested in learning, observing and sharing the Jewish tradition

The mission of the RUHS Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Ally Student Association (LGBTQA) is to create a safe and supportive environment for university students identifying as LGBTQA and their allies, for the purposes of creating a sense of community within to work to create a positive image for LGBTQA healthcare workers in the community at large, and to promote the overall health and wellness of LGBTQA students.

Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) is open to students from Dental, MBA, Nursing, Pharmacy and Ortho/MBA Programs. In addition, there are faculty advisors from each program and the Registrar/ Director of Student Services as well as the Assistant Director of Student Services serve in an ex-officio capacity. The SGA represents all students at Roseman (by campus) and acts as a voice for the student body. The SGA reports to the Vice President for Student Services.

Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association of Nevada – 91̽»¨ Student Nurses Association (AAPINA of Nevada – RUSNA)
The Asian American Pacific Islander Nurses Association of Nevada – 91̽»¨ Student Nurses Association (AAPINA of NV – RUSNA) is a SNA of the state chapter of AAPINA of NV. This ethnic minority nursing organization strive to positively affect the health and well-being of AAPI communities by 1) supporting AAPI nurses and nursing students around the world through research, practice and education; 2) facilitate and promote networking and collaborative partnerships; and 3) influencing health policy through individual and community actions. We are part of the National Coalition of Minority Nurses Association (NCMENA), a collaboration of five national ethnic minority nurses associations. The Critical Care and Emergency Student Nurses Association seeks to fulfill the following roles:
Prepare students intending to enter the critical care or emergency department fields of nursing regarding job-related experiences; help students practice interview techniques for future job hires; educate students about nurse residencies, internships, apprenticeships, and the key differences between them; encourage presentation from outside sources to educate students about what they may experience in related job fields; educate students about extracurricular programs and classes that can benefit those interested in critical care or emergency department nursing; and to give back to the community through means of community service.

The mission of AAPS is to foster hands-on experience through oral presentations with journal clubs, scientific research, and educational research. The club will strive to enhance educational experiences and knowledge by incorporating cutting edge global pharmaceutical research that runs concurrently with the Roseman Pharmacy curriculum. AAPS will innovate and inspire the future generation of pharmaceutical scientists and educators through providing a platform of success.

The Student College of Clinical Pharmacy is a group of Roseman pharmacy students who are interested in pursuing clinical pharmacy in diverse practice settings upon graduation. This group encourages members to further their clinical knowledge through graduate residencies and fellowships and promotes student membership in the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). The ACCP Student Network will offer students various opportunities to strengthen their clinical skills and will assist members in pursuing their career goals as active clinicians.

The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) Student Chapter encourages student pharmacists to become knowledgeable health care professionals, particularly in Senior Care Pharmacy practices and operations. The organization will provide opportunities for students to have an active involvement in the senior community here in Nevada in hopes of fostering goodwill and promoting public awareness of comprehensive pharmaceutical services.

The objective of Kappa Psi at the Roseman College of Pharmacy is to conduct a fraternal organization for the mutual benefit of the student, faculty, and alumni members; to advance the profession of Pharmacy, educationally, fraternally, and socially, to instill industry, sobriety, fellowship, and high ideals in its members; and to foster scholarship and pharmaceutical research. The Delta Tau Chapter is based in Henderson and the Zeta Omicron Chapter is based in South Jordan.

Industry Pharmacists Organization
The Industry Pharmacists Organization is dedicated to advancing the careers of industry-based pharmacists and to promoting their indispensable value.

The Roseman Chapter of the National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) was activated in May 2006. It currently has several members who have expressed an interest in owning their own pharmacies. The chapter is very active with many of its members attending the annual national meeting, members participating in various community service programs including health fairs and festivals, helping feed the homeless, provide wound care kits to the homeless, preparing business plans to enter into the national competition at national meetings, and having guest speakers. In addition to the community services and student activities, membership provides students additional insight into the impact of various legislative proposals on their chosen career.

91̽»¨ chapters of Phi Delta Chi professional pharmacy co-educational fraternity are two of the 91 chapters and 60,000 members nationwide. As a professional pharmacy fraternity, members are encouraged to participate in volunteer service projects as well as enjoy social events with other members. Phi Delta Chi strives to develop leaders of the profession while encouraging camaraderie among its members as we will be brothers for life. Our motto is Alterum Alterius Auxillo Eget: “Each Needs the Help of the Other.” The Beta Upsilon Chapter is based in Henderson and the South Jordan Chapter is considered a colony.

Student Alliance
Student Alliance (SA) is a combination of multiple orgs – American Pharmacistic Association (APhA), American Society of Health System Pharmacist (ASHP), State Specific Pharmacy Associations (Ex: UPhA & NPA). Student Alliance aims to assist student pharmacists with preparation for post-graduate training, navigating through school, exploring careers in the profession, providing community service, and networking with others, all while providing opportunities for professional growth and leadership. In addition to a monthly speaker series, Student Alliance hosts the annual ASHP Clinical Skills Competition and APhA Patient Counseling Competition, with our winning team competing nationally, and attends three annual conferences throughout the U.S.

American Dental Education Association (ADEA)
The ADEA Student Chapter at Roseman supports the national mission of the American Dental Education Association to lead individuals and institutions of the dental education community, and to address contemporary issues influencing education, research, and the delivery of oral health care for the improvement of the health of the public. Our main goals are to provide oral health education in the community, educate students and faculty at Roseman about issues and developments in dental education, and encourage the pursuit of dental education among students.

The American Student Dental Association is a national student-run organization that protects and advances the rights, interests, and welfare of dental students. Dental Student Association (DSA)
The Dental Student Association is a student-run organization that promotes professional development in the student body, and fulfills responsibilities associated with a Student Council. It represents the Classes, Student Organizations, Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and Dental Student Clubs as a liaison in matters of common interest with the faculty and administration. DSA encourages students, faculty, and staff to utilize the Lifelong Colleague Philosophy, Honor Code, Commitment to Each Other, and Ethics & Professionalism in all interactions and in the delivery of Person-Centered Care to provide social, cultural, and other activities that contribute to a healthful and productive environment.

Middle Eastern Dental Association (MEDA)
This mission of the Middle Eastern Dental Association (MEDA) is to promote awareness about all Middle Eastern cultures and to celebrate the cultural differences among students and faculty at 91̽»¨. MEDA aims engage students and others in our community to learn more about cultures, traditions, and customs in different areas of the Middle East. MEDA encourages all students within Roseman’s College of Dental Medicine to use this knowledge in treating Middle Eastern patients regarding their mental health.

National Student Research Group: Roseman University College of Dental Medicine – South Jordan
National Student Research Group (NSRG) Roseman Chapter CODM-SJ is affiliated with the American Association for Dental Research (AADR). We aim to promote student involvement in dental research and focus on implementing evidence-based dentistry within the clinic as well as the classroom. We provide support for students who are interested in research and connect them to faculty members who are doing research. We offer a forum for fellow students to connect and communicate research ideas. Moreover, we strive to promote the inter-disciplinary advancement of research between professional programs on campus i.e. Dental, Pharmacy, Nursing.

The Special Needs Care Dentistry Association develops awareness in the DMD program and serves as a resource for students who are interested in providing treatment for patients requiring special care.

Student Professionalism and Ethics Association in Dentistry (SPEA)
SPEA is a national, student-driven association that was established to promote and support students’ lifelong commitment to ethical behavior in order to benefit the patients they serve, and to further the dental profession. Our Roseman chapter is comprised of students of the College of Dental Medicine who meet regularly to discuss ethical cases and to organize events to promote ethics and professionalism on our campus.

The Tau Sigma Military Dental Club seeks to promote oral health in the Salt Lake Metropolitan area of Utah, to welcome new military-sponsored students to Roseman University College of Dental Medicine, and to participate in fundraising initiatives for Salt Lake area homeless veterans.

The Student Government Association (SGA) is the governing body or “voice” for all students at Roseman, comprised of elected officers from Dental, MBA, Nursing, Pharmacy and Ortho Programs.

SGA Annual Duties
- SGA President nominates two (2) student representatives to the Student Professionalism Board
- SGA President appoints student alternate(s) to the Student Professionalism Board (in case members are not able to attend a hearing)
- SGA officers review and recommend graduation student speaker speeches to Administrative Council
- SGA officers review self-nominees for the next years’ SGA officers
- SGA officers serve as the student opinion on matters that require student insight for the Vice President for Student Services or other faculty/staff organizations on campus as needed (student health insurance, parking, etc.)
- SGA officers may seek to undertake other matters as determined
SGA Eligibility and Term of Service
Enrolled Roseman students as well as incoming students (who will be on campus by July 1), are eligible to self-nominate for an office in the SGA.
SGA Officers are elected the spring prior to the start of his/her term of service beginning on July 1 of each year and ending on June 30th of the following year (or his/her graduation date, whichever comes sooner).
The following academic years provide the most flexibility toward participation in SGA (although any academic year is welcomed):
- Dental: D2 and D3 years
- Nursing: ABSN, N1 and N2 years (although due to prominent rotations off campus, meetings via phone could be necessary)
- Pharmacy: P2 year (P3 year is possible, although meetings could fall over lunch time)
Time Commitment
The SGA typically meets 2-3 times throughout the academic year, although the level of involvement is based on the officers. It is recommended that students consider their availability during the academic year for which he/she might be serving, as meetings are typically at noon or 3:15pm. SGA Elections
SGA election for officers is held in the spring of each academic year. If interested in running for one of the offices below, please view the SGA Bylaws and annual duties specified above. Elections will be advertised in the student newsletter for those interested in self-nomination.
SGA Self-Nomination Process
Students interested in SGA self-nominate by creating a short statement (maybe 2-3 sentences) stating why he/she is interested in serving). This statement will be included on a voting ballot that will be viewed by all students, so please be professional. Again, the SGA term of service begins July 1 and ends June 30th of the next year. If you are interested, please email your self-nomination statement for an SGA Office to sga@roseman.edu by May 26, 2017.
SGA Constitution Bylaws (.pdf)
The SGA constitution is the fundamental principles that govern its operation. The bylaws establish the specific rules of guidance by which the group is to function. All but the most informal groups should have their basic structure and methods of operation in writing.
Officers each year have an opportunity to make suggested updates to the Consitution/By-Laws. Any suggested updates are taken to the Vice-President for Student Affairs for consideration, and if approved, are placed into effect immediately.
